About Joe Campbell
Joe Campbell and his wife have lived in the community for over twenty years. They have two children, one in college, a graduate of Wissahickon High School, and the other a high school senior. He has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Maryland and early in his career worked as a police officer for the Virginia Division of Forensic Science. He has worked for over twenty years in technology and project management roles for companies in the aerospace, finance, healthcare, and software industries. He currently works as project manager for a firm that provides lending services support software.
Joe has remained committed to a wide range of leadership and volunteer roles, including:
-
Assistant soccer coach, Wissahickon Recreational Association
-
Elementary school lunch and playground monitor
-
Volunteered to help construct the playground at the Fairhaven elementary school in Maryland.
-
Various volunteer roles at the National Air and Space Museum, National Zoo, a horse rescue, and other organizations
-
Board member for multiple car clubs
As parents of students in the school district, Joe and his wife have grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of communication from the current school board, combined with the district’s falling rating and academic performance, fiscal irresponsibility, and significantly increased levels of unaddressed violence on campus. This school board is failing to protect teachers and students, promoting divisive messaging and programs, and encouraging restricted disciplinary practices that leave teachers, students, and faculty vulnerable. He wants to work with the other school board members to ensure responsible use of all budget dollars, including managing expenses to within the budget dollars available, and ensuring programs that help students be successful during their time at Wissahickon, after graduation and beyond. He would also support programs to reduce school violence, improve disciplinary procedures and respect, and improve communication between the board and community members.
